Hello, welcome, and thanks for joining what I plan to be something akin to a long-running group tour (but the fun kind!). This humble blog has been months in the making (and probably years, if I think about it), and I’m eager to build this space dedicated to one of the things that lights me up the most–travel, whether by plane to far-flung corners, by car for short getaways or daytrips, by foot or bike in our very own town, or by armchair or screen. After all, one of my favorite ways to travel–when I’m not doing so physically– is to do so mentally via reminiscing.
As you’ll find in my About section, awefaring is a phrase I threw together to describe how I like to make my way around our world (and even my day-to-day)–by awe. I hope you’ll find kinship with my recollections of the places, people, damn fine meals, heartlifting scenes, and other experiences which inspire awe within me as I interact with my adopted region of New England, international jaunts, my tiny Connecticut town, and even books.
I’m glad you’re here and I’m looking forward to bring travel buddies. Now, let’s grab our shoes. Aperitivo is about to begin and I have my eye on that sun-dappled table under the pergola.
What I’ve Been Reading
We’ll be traipsing across the Cotswolds next month, so I’ve been devouring books about/set in the UK. Here are a few of those:
–My Love Affair with England by Susan Allen Toth (travel memoir)
–The School by the Sea series by Jenny Colgan (romantic fiction)
–Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell (historical fiction)
A few others:
–Without Reservations: The Travels of an Independent Woman by Alice Steinbach (travel memoir)
–Julie & Julia by Julie Powell (hilarious foodie memoir)
–Taste: My Life through Food by Stanley Tucci (foodie memoir) (I adore Stanley Tucci. Like really, really adore him.)

Where I’ve Found Awe This Week
-At one of our town’s beautiful parks, sitting on a bench overlooking a lake with my husband in the middle of the workday while a breeze tossed around our lunch remnants.
-In my garden, noticing the ancient and yet always-entrancing dance of the bees around the strawberry and rowan blossoms.
-In making and savoring a lemony fettuccine with grilled broccoli & artichokes, complete with Aperol Spritz.
In wanderlusting solidarity,
Lara
P.S. Please feel free to continue traveling along with me via subscribing. Here’s to a lovely journey.
